Humphrey
This was designed for a smaller space. It is foreshortened, so it doesn't protrude too far out of the wall and has a more realistic loggerhead face. It probably looks best at about eye level. About 13 inches wide at the base of the carapace.

This prototype was completed for the '09 league of NH Craftsmen's Fair. About 18 inches high. Based on an actual couple of "Hippocampus Breviceps", they were thrown on the wheel, then pulled and manipulated.

Box Turtles, Raku, about 8 inches long.
Each body and cover was thrown, manipulated, and textured, then sculptured parts were attached. Five glazes were brushed, poured, wiped and resisted. Each glowing piece was removed from the firing at 1800 degrees with tongs and placed in a reduction chamber full of newspaper, straw and wood until cool. $175-$260
